Families of Missing Nomadic Labourers Protest Outside DC Office Kulgam, Seek Police Support

Srinagar, Feb 18, Three nomadic labourers, including two brothers, have been missing for six days from the Qazigund area in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Their families have staged a protest outside the DC office in Kulgam on Tuesday, demanding urgent action from the police to trace them.
The missing men, Riyaz Ahmad Bajad (25), his younger brother Showkat Ahmad Bajad (18), both from Chandanpanjan, Qazigund, and Mukhtar Ahmad Awan from Chowgam, Devsar Kulgam, were last seen on February 13 when they left for a relative’s wedding in Ashmuji, Kulgam. After boarding a tipper truck near Damjan, they got off at Mir Bazar, planning to walk to their destination, but they never arrived. Their phones have been switched off since that time, raising concerns among their families.
The trio, originally from Chita Danda Panglar in Rajouri district, have been working as labourers in the region for six years. Their sudden disappearance has left their families in a state of panic and confusion. Najma, the wife of Riyaz Ahmad, said, “They are labourers, and their disappearance is deeply concerning. We request the authorities to find them as soon as possible.”
They appealed to the police and civil administration to trace the missing persons.
