Four Convicted in NDPS Case, Sentenced to 12 Years Rigorous Imprisonment

Kulgam, February 18- :- In a significant victory against drug trafficking, the Kulgam police have secured the conviction of four accused individuals involved in a narcotics case registered at Police Station Yaripora. The Hon’ble Court of the Principal Sessions Judge, Kulgam, delivered the verdict on January 23, 2025, followed by the pronouncement of the quantum of punishment on February 8, 2025.
The convicted individuals, identified as Mohd Aslam War, son of Ghulam Hassan War, resident of Arwani Bijebhara; Mehraj-ud-din Wani, son of Ghulam Mohammad Wani, resident of Nowpora, Kharpora; Waqar Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Yaseen Dar, resident of Padshahi Bagh Srinagar; and Bilal Ahmad Hanji, son of Mohammad Maqbool Hanji, resident of Kharpora, were found guilty under Sections 8/20 and 8/22 read with Section 29 of the NDPS Act in FIR No. 21/2021 of Police Station Yaripora.
The accused were apprehended on April 26, 2021, during a naka checking by the police party of Police Post Frisal at Kharpora near the playground. Upon searching their possession, the police recovered a contraband consignment, including 100 ml of 36 unlabelled bottles, six labelled bottles of Cocax-Dx, and two polythene bags containing 130 grams of charas.
During the trial, the prosecution presented multiple witnesses and documentary evidence to substantiate the charges against the accused. After thoroughly evaluating the evidence, the court found them guilty and sentenced each of them to 12 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 1,00,000.
