CBI Files Case Against J&K Labour Secretary for Disproportionate Assets, Raids Seven Locations

Srinagar, Feb 19, The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against the Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Labour Department for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, officials said on Monday.

As part of the investigation, CBI teams carried out searches at seven locations associated with the accused, including his official and residential premises. The raids aimed to uncover financial records, property documents, and other evidence related to the case.

Preliminary findings suggest that the official accumulated wealth beyond his legitimate earnings while serving in various government capacities. The case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, with investigators examining bank transactions, real estate acquisitions, and other assets suspected to be linked to corrupt practices.

Officials confirmed that several incriminating documents, digital records, and property details were seized during the searches. The accused is likely to be summoned for questioning as the investigation progresses.

This action is part of a broader crackdown on corruption in Jammu and Kashmir, where authorities are tightening scrutiny on officials suspected of financial irregularities.
