Awantipora, September 19: The four-day 7-A-Side Interdepartmental Football Tournament 2022commenced at IUST today. The event organized by The Directorate of Physical Education & Sports, IUST will run from September 19 โ 22, 2022. The tournament was inaugurated by Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Vice Chancellor, IUST who was also Chief guest of the event.
Eight departments of the University are participating in the tournament. Congratulating the Directorate of Sports for organizing this tournament, Prof. Romshoo said โSports is equally important as academics. More important than a loss or a win in a game, is the team spirit and coordination that it teaches. Such sports also help to develop a sense of leadership among the studentsโ.He assured that IUST will devote more space and infrastructure tothe physical education of the youth.
Encouraging the players, Prof. Manzoor A Malik, Dean Academics IUST and Guest of Honour of the event said, โMinds work sharper in a healthy body and sports are indispensablefor healthy educationโ. He recommended organizing more sports events on campus.Welcomingthe players Dr. Hilal Ahmad Rather (Assistant Director, Physical Education & Sports) said, โSports help to build a foundation for lifelong health and also help to form social and community bonds. So, we at IUST are devoted to enhance sports cultureโ.
