*CBI Books Accounts Officer In Srinagar for ₹15K Bribe Demand*

*Srinagar, June 20* ; The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), Srinagar OF Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against a serving Assistant Accounts Officer of the J&K State Handloom Development Corporation for allegedly demanding a bribe of ₹15,000 from a retired employee to process pension-related corrections.
According to details in the First Information Report, , the complainant, who is a retired employee of the Corporation, alleged that an incorrect deduction of ₹1,49,010 under “EP Fund – Employees Share” was reflected in Form-9 sent to the AG’s office in connection with his pension. When the complainant approached the concerned official, Nasir Ahmad Dar, on June 11, the officer allegedly demanded ₹15,000 to rectify the error and provide the necessary forms/documents.
Bhat refused to pay the bribe and submitted a written complaint on June 14, following which a team of the CBI-ACB conducted a prompt verification. As per the Verification Memo dated June 14, the demand for bribe by Dar was prima facie.
