PDP Zonal president Pampore Qayoom Mir Resigns from Party, joins AIP
Pampore, 20 August : In another jolt to PDP in south Kashmir, its senior leader and zonal president Abdul Qayoom Mir today resigned from the basic membership of the party.
Mir, who is DDC member from Kakpora, joined AIP and will contest the assembly elections from Pampore against Zahoor Mir.
Mir is a senior political leader from Pulwama and is set to give a tough contest to the Zahoor Mir and NC as he helped PDP get majority of the votes during parliament elections for Waheed Para in Pampore assembly segment.
PDP workers said that Zahoor Mir has been inactive from the last six years and fielding him in place of Qayoom Mir will cost the party its Pampore seat.
Zahoor Mir has lost support of voters in Pampore town and is disliked by people in Kakpora tehsil which was added to the Pampore segment after delimitation.
PDP workers said that he has now support in his village and its neighbours hamlets while the constituency mostly despises him as he has neglected it in the last tenures. (Agencies)
