Sakeena Itoo conducts surprise inspection of PHC Sheeri, PHC Boniyar, takes stock of healthcare facilities Emphasizes on people-centric approach for improved public service delivery

BARAMULLA, OCTOBER 20: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo today conducted surprise inspection of Primary Health Centre (PHC) Sheeri and PHC Boniyar in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district here to take stock of healthcare facilities and assess on-ground functioning of these public health institutions.
During the visit, the Minister reviewed the availability of essential medicines, diagnostic facilities, manpower position, and overall patient care services being provided at both these health centres. She interacted with patients and attendants to gather first-hand feedback form them on healthcare delivery.
Interacting with doctors and other medical staff on the occasion, the Minister directed them to maintain people-centric approach while discharging their duties.
Expressing concern over certain deficiencies noticed during the inspection, Minister Sakeena instructed the CMO to take immediate corrective measures to ensure that all essential services are available round the clock. She also emphasized on strict adherence to duty rosters, proper maintenance of records, and cleanliness within hospital premises.
“The government is committed to strengthen the public health system, especially at the primary level, to ensure quality healthcare reaches every citizen, particularly in remote and far-flung areas,” the Minister stated.
She reiterated that transparency, accountability and dedication must form the core of health service delivery.
MLA Uri, Dr. Sajjad Shafi; MLA Baramulla, Javid Hassan Beigh; CMO Baramulla and other senior officers of district administration also accompanied the Minister during the visit.
