March 21: In order to preserve the ecological diversity and to stabilize the ecosystem, Police on the eve of World Plantation Day have launched a plantation drive in Pulwama.
SSP Pulwama Shri Mohd Yousif-JKPS launched the plantation drive by planting saplings of different varieties at DPL Pulwama. DySP PC Pulwama and other senior Officers/Officials also participated in plantation drive.
The main aim of this initiative is to propagate the message to general public that plantation drive should be entailed/inculcated among people as fundamental duties towards the environment. People should maintain a balanced relation with the environment for future sustainability. Moreover, it is also an initiative to promote greenery in our establishments as a part of larger sustainable ecological development. Promoting greenery will help us to offset emissions which upset our ecological balance.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Pulwama threw light on the importance of plants in our life. He said that with the modern pace of development it becomes imperative to show our commitment towards the environment. He emphasised that plantation is the most important to boost environment protection measures as well as promote afforestation.
