Will Move Supreme Court if Statehood for J&K Isn’t Restored: Farooq Abdullah

Srinagar, June 21 : National Conference president and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Saturday once again emphasized the urgent need to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. He warned that if the process continues to be delayed, the party may be forced to seek legal intervention from the Supreme Court.

Talking to media, Abdullah said that it has been eight months since the government in Jammu and Kashmir was formed. “I remain optimistic that with the return of statehood, we will also regain the administrative authority necessary for proper governance,” he said.

He also said that the National Conference’s position on the matter has not changed and that the party is waiting patiently. “However, if delays persist without justification, we will have no choice but to knock on the doors of the Supreme Court,” he stated firmly.
