Two Drug Peddlers Arrested with Charas in Awantipora During Naka Checking

Awantipora, May 22, Police in Awantipora arrested two individuals during a routine naka checking operation at Kaigam Crossing and recovered a significant quantity of contraband from their possession.

The operation was conducted by a police team from Police Post Toll Plaza led by SI Ishfaq Ahmad, Incharge Police Post, under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora. During the checking, two men were found moving under suspicious circumstances and were subsequently intercepted.

The duo, identified as Mayser Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, a resident of Ladermar, and Arshid Ahmad Sheikh, son of Gh. Mohammad Sheikh, a resident of Gadibal Handwara, Maidani Chugal Handwara, were searched on the spot.

During the search, approximately 315 grams of charas-like substance in stick form was recovered from their possession.

Following the recovery, a case under FIR No. 119/2025 has been registered at Police Station Awantipora under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
