*Avalanche Alert Sounded in Five J&K Districts After Fresh Snowfall*

Srinagar, Dec 24, : Authorities on Wednesday issued an avalanche alert for five districts of Jammu and Kashmir following substantial snowfall in the upper reaches over the past few days.
Officials said the warning, classified as low danger, applies to the districts of Doda, Ganderbal, Kishtwar, Poonch and Ramban. Avalanche activity is likely at elevations above 2,800 metres during the next 24 hours, they added.
As a precautionary measure, locals and travellers have been advised to stay away from identified avalanche-prone zones and strictly adhere to advisories issued by the administration.
Large parts of the higher reaches across the Union territory have witnessed moderate to heavy snowfall this week, increasing the risk of snow-related incidents in vulnerable areas.
