Minor Drowns to death, another rescued in Jehlum river Sumbal

Bandipora, June 25 : A female child died due to drowning in river Jhelum in north Kashmir’s Shatulpora Sumbal area of Bandipora district this morning whereas another child was rescued by the locals.

The deceased child was identified as Nuzhat who alongwith her brother Nazakat had slipped into river Jhelum at Shatulpora area of Sumbal today.

Giving details, locals told news agency— Kashmir Scroll that both of them were taking bath near the river Jhelum to beat the heat when they slipped and fell into the river. “Immediately a rescue operation was launched in which Nazakat was rescued whereas Nuzhat drowned. After many efforts, the body of Buzhat was retrieved,” said a local—(KS)
