Police arrests notorious drug smuggler in Baramulla, contraband substance recovered

July 25: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a notorious drug smuggler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A police party under the supervision of SDPO Uri Shri Shokat Ali-JKPS, assisted by SHO PS Uri arrested the most wanted & notorious drug smuggler at a checkpoint established at Uri. During search, officers were able to recover 276 grams of Charas like contraband substance and cash of Rs 10000/- (believed to be proceeds of narcotic crime) from his possession. He has been identified as Mohammad Sharief son of Ghulam Mohd resident of Hathlanga Uri. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Uri and further investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
