Srinagar 24 July, 2024: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) has made a strong appeal to the Jammu & Kashmir Administration to close down schools in the valley due to the unprecedented and unbearable heatwave prevailing in the Kashmir Division. The region has consistently recorded historically high temperatures, causing significant problems for school-going children.
In their appeal, the KCCI highlighted the health concerns raised by parents, noting that the extreme heat, coupled with frequent power outages, has left many schools without operational coolers and fans. This has exacerbated the discomfort and health risks for students.
Additionally, The Private Schools Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) and concerned parents are demand to the government to act quickly. They are worried about the serious health risks from the extreme heat and believe that closing schools right away is necessary to keep students safe and healthy.
High-ranking officials have assured the KCCI that the matter is under serious consideration, with a decision expected soon. The combined efforts of the KCCI, PSAJK, and concerned parents underline the pressing need for protective measures during this period of extreme weather conditions.
