Handwara Police Seizes 06 Vehicles Involved in Illegal Mining and Transportation of Minerals

Handwara, September 25:
In its continued crackdown on illegal mining activities, Handwara Police has intensified its efforts to curb unlawful excavation and transportation of minerals in the Police District Handwara.

During the drive, police teams from Police Post Langate and Police Post Chogul, under the supervision of senior officers, seized 04 tractors and 02 tippers found involved in illegal excavation and transportation of minerals.

Accordingly, proceedings under the relevant provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMDR Act) have been initiated, and further investigation is underway.

Handwara Police reiterates its commitment to act tough against those indulging in illegal mining, which not only causes environmental degradation but also affects public resources.

Community members are urged to extend their cooperation and share information about any illegal mining or related activities with the police. The identity of informants will be kept confidential.
