Minor drowns to death in Bandipora’s Hajin

Teenage boy drowns in Handwara, rescue ops on

Srinagar, Jun 26 (KNO): A seven-year-old boy died after he drowned in a nallah in Gund-Jahangeer area of Hajin in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Sunday.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the boy identified as Saad Farooq (7) son of Farooq Ahmad of Gund-Jahangeer drowned while he was talking a bath in a nallah.

He said that his friends on seeing him drowning raised alarm, following which a rescue operation was launched by locals and his body was retrieved.

The official added that he was shifted to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

“After medico-legal formalities his body was later handed over to family members for last rites.”

Meanwhile, in an another incident, a 17-year-old boy drowned in a pound in Rajwar area of Handwara today afternoon.

An official said that a rescue operation by police, army and locals was underway to trace the missing boy—(KNO)
