Kickboxing championship held at IUST today

Directorate of Physical Education & Sports, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora today organized a two-day Kick Boxing Championship wherein 270 athletes participated. The event shall be for two days from 26-27 July 2022. The event was organized in collaboration with the district Pulwama Kickboxing Association and supported by 42RR,Victor Force.
The Championship was inaugurated by Prof.Naseer Iqbal (Registrar, IUST). Other dignitaries present on the occasion includedMohd. Yousaf (SSP Awantipora), Colonel Rajkumar Singh (Commanding Officer, 44RR), Professor and Mr. Sameer Wazir (Chairman Sports Committee).
Welcoming the participants, Prof. Iqbal said, “Youth need to utilize their energies in a positive manner and sports provide an excellent platform for the same. Participation in competitive sports contributes to preparing the students to face and overcome challenges and also improves academic potential. Sports create a healthy environment and help to protect our young generations from evils like drug addiction”.
Sameer Wazir(Chairman, Sports Committee) infirmed the gathering that the university will be investing in the physical development of the students and will utilize its sports infrastructure for the overall development of the youth.
Thanking the participants and the sponsors, Dr. Hilal A Rather (Assistant Director, Physical Education & Sports) said, “Sports help to build a foundation for lifelong health and also help to form social and community bonds”.
