UT of Jammu and Kashmir Unveils First-of-Its-Kind Space Lab in Govt School

DC Kishtwar inaugurates the space Lab at Govt Higher Secondary School Boys Kishtwar

Kishtwar: In a historic moment, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir proudly inaugurated its very first Space Lab, specially designed for government school students. The unveiling ceremony took place at Govt Higher Secondary School Boys Kishtwar and was graced by the presence of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav IAS, along with CEO Kishtwar Prehlad Bhagat and Principal GHSS Boys Kishtwar besides otgers.

Students and staff of the school were also in attendance to witness this landmark cosmic event.

This pioneering Space Lab, developed under the ISRO space tutor programme by Vyomika Space Academy and funded by the Directorate of Education Jammu, represents a significant leap in educational technology. The lab is equipped with high-tech telescope,ISRO Rocket and Satellite demonstration models, drones,air crafts etc.

This will enable students to explore the wonders of the cosmos and notable space missions from ISRO.

During an interactive session, CEO Vyomika Space Academy, Govind Yadav, provided Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar with detailed insights into the lab’s functionality and its potential to inspire and enhance students’ knowledge of Space, Science and technology

Dr. Devansh Yadav, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, encouraged students to make the best use of this remarkable space lab. He emphasized that it would not only foster a deeper understanding of space but also inspire students to consider careers in space sciences. This initiative is expected to ignite interest in astronomy-related activities at the school level, potentially guiding students towards careers in this fascinating field.

It’s noteworthy that students from the 6th to 12th standard in government schools will have the opportunity to recieve skill development training sessions from these cutting-edge lab.

In a further testament to its commitment to promoting space education, the Vyomika Space Academy will host a state-level inter-school Hydro Rocket and Astronomy Workshop on October 15, 2023, in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Students from various schools are encouraged to participate and expand their knowledge in these captivating fields.

This Space Lab inauguration marks a significant milestone in Jammu and Kashmir’s educational landscape, fostering scientific curiosity and innovation among the region’s young minds.
