Srinagar: To do something unique was his passion since childhood. He would dream about doing something not just for himself and his family, but for the masses of his home land—Kashmir. Today his dream came true.
Today, a young Entrepreneur from summer capital Srinagar is providing designing solutions to people by adding a taste of tradition in interior designing. Faizan Nehvi, a resident of Srinagar, who has been recently elected as Chairman of Young Entrepreneurs Committee and Executive member of Chamber of commerce and Industries Kashmir (CCIK). He has received “Best Interior Designer of Kashmir” award for his outstanding work in the field.
Faizan Nehvi said that he has done his schooling from Tyndale Biscoe after that he pursued civil engineering.
“The idea of starting interior designing in Kashmir was on his mind since few years. He travelled to different parts of India and saw how people seek help from designers to help them with the interior designing. His idea of setting up something like this in Kashmir transformed into reality and he entered into interior designing fully by starting interior designing studio, FNG group to provide designing solutions to people.
“Everyone wants their homes to be the best but they have very less time to look into every minute details and that is where the need of a professional designer arises and since years we have been designing hotels, restaurants, cafes and residences,” Nehvi said.
Despite having a very good market for interior designing, designers are very less, he said, adding, though at some places traditional designing is being adapted but scenario is changing and this industry has started to pick up.
“If you have a professional designer available, everything is possible. With the help of the latest techniques like computerized graphic paint and 3D wallpaper designing, we give homes a new and trendy look,” he said. “As the winters in Kashmir are very cold, people prefer wood which is a better idea and designers can be creative in designing the interiors with wood as well.”
He said that people have understood the ill impacts of concrete houses and houses with more height on health, that is why the interior designing with wood has increased in Kashmir in the past few years.
He said that fabric based wallpapers, papier-machie designs incorporated into wooden panelling are also being preferred in Kashmir currently and to keep traditional and cultural aspects of Kashmir alive, we are hiring local artisans so as to make contemporary designs.
He while giving credit for this whole work to technicians said that they are the ones who are shaping ideas of designers into reality and everything is being judged on their work.
Nehvi said that the youth of J&K are very talented but they must follow their dreams with passion and hardwork.
Though there are less opportunities, youth must try new things and bring positive change in Kashmir by which they not only will earn livelihood for themselves but to create job opportunities for others as well, he said. See less
