Sonamarg, Mar 27, : The Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA) has issued a clarification regarding toll collection at the Shutkadi Toll Post following social media videos showing disputes over toll charges.
According to the SDA, local residents of Shutkadi, Sonamarg, Nilgrath, and Sarbal, as well as employees of various government departments working in Sonamarg, are exempt from paying toll charges. This policy has been consistently upheld to facilitate hassle-free travel for residents and employees.
However, individuals engaged in business or commercial activities in Sonamarg are required to pay toll fees, as per established guidelines. The revenue generated is essential for the maintenance and management of infrastructure in the area.
The administration has urged all individuals to adhere to the guidelines and cooperate with toll authorities. Those with concerns or queries have been encouraged to contact the SDA for clarification.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, the SDA stated that these measures aim to balance the needs of residents while ensuring the sustainable development of Sonamarg.
