Congress issues first list of 9 candidates for JK Assembly polls

Srinagar, Aug 27: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Tuesday announced its candidates for the first phase of Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, scheduled for September 18.

The Congress party has named Surinder Singh Channi as its candidate from Tral constituency, while Amanullah Mantoo will contest from Devsar constituency of Kulgam district. Gulam Nabi Mir has been fielded from Dooru constituency, and Peerzada Mohammad Syed will contest from Anantnag constituency.

In addition, the party has announced Sheikh Zafarullah as its candidate from Inderwal constituency, Nadeem Sharief from Bhaderwah constituency, and Sheikh Reyaz from Doda constituency. Dr. Pradeep Kumar Bhagat will contest from Doda West constituency, and Vikar Rasool Wani has been named as the candidate from Banihal constituency.

The Congress party has begun its preparations for the assembly elections, with this being the first batch of candidates announced.
