CUKashmir’s Head Dept of Maths registers design patent
Ganderbal, Aug 27: Dr. Haribhau R. Bhapkar, Head, Department of Mathematics, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) has achieved a significant milestone, by receiving the certificate of registration of a design patent “Text to Speech Converter”.
This design patent helps needy kids or persons for the smooth management of the machine or device.
Text-to-speech Converter (TTSC) is a type of assistive technology that the device reads digital text aloud. It’s sometimes called “read aloud” technology. TTSC can take words on a computer or other digital device and convert them into audio. TTSC is very helpful for kids who struggle with reading, but it can also help kids with writing and editing, and even focusing.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, congratulated Dr. Bhapkar and his team, emphasizing the university’s dedication to fostering innovation that addresses both societal and national challenges. He highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches in education, which are essential to the university’s mission of contributing to nation-building through knowledge and technology.

Dr. Bhapkar is known for his interest in the Design Thinking Approach and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and has successfully filed 43 copyrights and 42 patents, with several already published or granted.
