SMC executes City-Wide De-Watering drive Clears Hotspots, activates 24×7 Monitoring after Snowfall

SRINAGAR, JANUARY 28: On the directions of the Commissioner, Faz Lul Haseeb, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) launched an intensive, city-wide de-watering operation to mitigate waterlogging triggered by recent snowfall and subsequent snowmelt.
SMC deployed men and machinery round the clock, leveraging modern high-capacity de-watering pumps and field teams to ensure swift drainage.
All identified waterlogging hotspots have been cleared, with focused interventions in low-lying pockets, major corridors, traffic-prone stretches, and residential-commercial clusters.
To ensure seamless coordination and rapid response, a dedicated 24×7 Control Room has been activated for grievance redressal, while the SCADA-enabled monitoring system is being used to track drainage performance and pump operations in real time. Senior officers conducted on-ground supervision to guarantee timely execution and inter-departmental coordination.
The prompt and coordinated measures restored normalcy across affected areas, significantly easing inconvenience to residents and commuters. SMC reiterates its commitment to proactive civic management during adverse weather and urges citizens to report any residual waterlogging through the helpline for immediate action.
SMC remains fully geared to respond swiftly to weather-related challenges, prioritising public safety and uninterrupted civic services across Srinagar.
