Sopore, February 28, 2026:
Continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace, Sopore Police apprehended two drug peddlers during naka checking under the jurisdiction of Police Post Warpora and recovered psychotropic substances from their possession.
During naka checking at Janwara Crossing, an EECO vehicle bearing registration number JK05N-4224 was intercepted. Upon search of the vehicle, psychotropic substances were recovered and seized as per due procedure.
*The accused have been identified as Mohammad Arif Chopan, S/O Ghulam Mohiuddin Chopan, and Aatif Mushtaq Mir, S/O Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, both residents of Janwara Sopore.*
Accordingly, FIR No. 41/2026 under Sections 8/22 and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and wider linkages involved.
