B Srinivasan Appointed as New DG of NSG, Succeeds Nalin Prabhat
Srinagar, Aug 28 : Senior IPS officer B Srinivasan was appointed as the new Director General (DG) of the National Security Guard (NSG). Srinivasan, a 1992 batch IPS officer from the Bihar cadre, will take over the position after the current DG, Nalin Prabhat, moves to a new role as Special Director General of Police in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved Srinivasan’s appointment, which will last until his retirement on August 31, 2027. Earlier this month, the government had shortened Prabhat’s term as NSG DG and approved his transfer from the Andhra Pradesh cadre to the Union Territories cadre (AGMUT) for three years. This transfer was done under special relaxation of the usual deputation rules.
