Telecom services in Kashmir to be restored within a few hours: Div Com

Srinagar, Aug 28 : Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, on Thursday assured that telecom and internet services disrupted due to inclement weather are expected to be restored within a few hours.

The Valley has been facing frequent disruptions in phone and internet connectivity since Wednesday, after heavy rainfall triggered a flood-like situation and affected essential infrastructure. The communication breakdown has caused inconvenience to people, particularly in flood-prone areas where residents were already on high alert due to rising water levels in the Jhelum.

Garg said the matter had been taken up at the highest level. “The Lieutenant Governor and the Chief Minister have taken note of the situation. I personally spoke with the authorities of BSNL and Airtel, and they assured me that teams are working on a war footing to restore the services,” he told

He said that the restoration process was already underway and expressed hope that services would resume within a few hours. Authorities have urged people to remain calm and patient, assuring that communication networks would soon be functional to facilitate relief and coordination measures amid the prevailing weather situation.
