Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s personal commitment has yielded promising results in the fight against drug trafficking in Jammu and Kashmir. While the era of armed conflict is waning, a new threat has emerged as drug trafficking and abuse are on the rise, posing a severe risk to the younger generation. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is actively overseeing anti-drug operations, leading to a significant crackdown on hundreds of smugglers and the seizure of numerous properties.

In the Kashmir Valley, where local youth have managed to distance themselves from the grip of violence, a perilous trap is being set through drug trafficking, jeopardizing the future of the younger generation. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, in coordination with the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, is spearheading proactive initiatives to curb the menace of narcotics. The ongoing police crackdown has resulted in the arrest of drug peddlers, with legal proceedings underway against them. Furthermore, notorious traffickers and peddlers are being sent to jail, facing the legal consequences outlined in the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The crackdown not only raises concerns among drug peddlers but also hits at the financial roots of this illicit trade by seizing properties and vehicles. The Supreme Court’s directive to establish separate NDPS courts for drug-related cases is a significant move to ensure the swift and efficient delivery of justice. This special approach underscores the commitment to effectively deal with those involved in drug trafficking.

The collaboration between law enforcement agencies, the judiciary, and administrative authorities sends a strong message that the consequences of drug trafficking extend beyond imprisonment. A recent meeting emphasized targeting major drug traffickers to eliminate the narcotics scourge, prompting the initiation of additional NDPS courts to expedite drug-related case resolutions. This joint effort reflects a collective commitment to safeguard the future of society.

By systematically dismantling the infrastructure of the drug trade, this ongoing campaign aims to pave the way for a safer and healthier future for generations to come. It serves as a beacon of hope, reminding us that through united efforts, we can break the chains of addiction and create a brighter tomorrow for the youth.
