Awantipora Cyber Cell Recovers Rs 3.26 Lakh Lost to Online Investment Frauds

Pulwama, May 29, The Cyber Cell of Police District Awantipora has successfully cracked multiple cases of online financial fraud, recovering a total amount of Rs 3,26,308, which has been returned to the victims.

According to officials, several complaints had been lodged regarding online scams involving fraudulent investment offers. In these schemes, the victims were lured with promises of high returns if they made additional deposits. Unsuspecting individuals transferred money, only to realize later that they had been conned.

Acting promptly on these complaints, the Cyber Cell gathered vital evidence and traced the flow of funds using sophisticated digital tools. As a result, the transactions were immediately frozen, preventing further loss of money. The entire amount of Rs 3,26,308 was subsequently recovered and credited back to the complainants.

Awantipora Police have issued an advisory urging the public to remain vigilant while navigating the digital space. People are advised to beware of fake investment links, suspicious SMS claiming credit, and unverified mobile applications. The police have also warned against accepting video calls from unknown numbers and sharing personal or banking details online, as cybercriminals are constantly evolving their tactics to exploit unsuspecting users.
