May 29: In a prompt and decisive action, police along with Revenue Department destroyed illegally cultivated Poppy Police District Awantipora.
Acting on credible information, police along with officials of Revenue Department destroyed an illegal Poppy Straw cultivation spread over nearly about 01 kanal of land in Sharshali and Ladhoo. The land is owned by Nissar Ahmad Sheikh son of Habibullah Sheikh resident of Sharshali, Fayaz Ahmad son of Jalaludin Sheikh resident of Sharshalli and Manzoor Ahmad son of Ab. Gaffar Wani resident of Ladhoo, who have illegally cultivated Poppy crops in their respective fields. Subsequently, the illicit crop was destroyed on the spot.
Accordingly, case vide FIR No. 40/2025 and 41/2025 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Khrew and further investigation has been initiated.
Police reaffirm its commitment to a drug-free society and urges citizens to report any such illegal activities. Public is also requested to extend cooperation to the Police and come forward with any information regarding any kind of anti-social activity in their neighborhood.
