Illegal extraction & transportation of minerals

Police seizes 11 vehicles; arrested 11 drivers in Baramulla

June 29: Cracking a whip on illegal mining & transportation of minerals, police have seized 11 vehicles and arrested 11 drivers in Baramulla.

Eleven vehicles including a tipper & 10 tractors were seized besides eleven drivers were arrested by several police parties at Chakloo, Delina Ghat, Singhpora Jheel, Nowpora, Waripora Payeen, Shrai areas of Baramulla, who were involved in illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals. These police parties were assisted by SHO Police Station Tangmarg/ Baramulla/ Kreeri, Incharge PP Delina, Wagoora, Mirgund under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla, SDPO Pattan/ Tangmarg/ Kreeri.

The arrested drivers have been identified as Gh Mohiuddin Sofi @ Mysar son of Ab Aziz, Bilal Ahmad Sofi son of Mohd Yousuf, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Ramzan, all residents of Chakloo, Abdul Rasheed Mir son of Ghulam Nabi resident of Darpora, Tanveer Ahmad Rather son of Mohd Afzal resident of Kanispora, Arshid Ahmad Mir son of Ali Mohd resident of Bangdara Reshipora, Mudasir Ahmad Ganie son of Gh Mohiuddin resident of Babgund, Tanveer Ahmad Tantray son of Ab Rehman resident of Shirpora Pattan, Shafat Ahmad Allie son of Mohd Akbar resident of Waripora Payeen, Danish Ahmad Naik son of Mehraj ud din resident of Check Ferozpora.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Baramulla, Pattan, Tangmarg & Kreeri and investigations have been initiated. People are requested not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah/River, as it is the violation of Government rules. Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law.
