Northern Railways Plans Direct Kashmir Connectivity; Vande Bharat Gets Reasi Stop

Reasi/Jammu, Oct 29, : After launching twin Vande Bharat trains on the Srinagar–Katra route in June, marking the completion of the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla rail link, the Northern Railways is now working to establish direct train connectivity between Kashmir and the rest of the country, officials said.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division, Uchit Singhal said efforts are underway to resolve operational and security challenges to achieve this milestone.
Speaking after introducing a two-minute stoppage for the semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express at Reasi railway station on Wednesday, Singhal according to news agency Kashmir Dot Com, said the service symbolizes the dream of bringing Kashmir firmly onto India’s railway map.
“The continuation of the stoppage at Reasi will depend on passenger response and commercial viability,” he said, adding the decision followed strong demand from locals and public representatives.
The stoppage is expected to benefit pilgrims visiting Vaishno Devi and tourists heading to the Chenab Bridge and nearby destinations. (KDC)
