Director Health Services Kashmir visits Leper Hospital Srinagar to take stock of facilities for leper inmates

Srinagar : In order to take stock of facilities and face lifting of infrastructural possibilities, Dr Jahangir Bakhshi, Director Health Services Kashmir accompanied by Dr. Nighat Majid holding charge of Chief Medical Officer Srinagar visited Leper Hospital and interacted with the families of leper inmates. Dr Jahangir Bakhshi was given a warm welcome by the inmates who appeared enthused to present bouquets as a mark of blessings for having visited the premises. While taking stock of the overall feasibilities and possibilities for explorative upliftment of hygienic living standards, he directed Chief Medical Officer Srinagar to ensure sensitization programmes are conducted as a part of community healthcare standards within the premises.
During the interactive session of inmates with Dr Jahangir Bakhshi, the inmates raised certain demands regarding their overall welfare besides conveyed heartfelt thanks for the quick redressal of earlier grievances. Director Health Services Kashmir assured them of taking up the issues of concern on priority basis on sympathetic consideration. Dr Jahangir Bakhshi directed CMO to keep suffieient supplies and emergency drugs available in the hospital for meeting any emergency diring odd hours. Further he directed CMO Srinagar that in case of critical emergencies the patients should be referred to Tertiary Care Hospitals & J L N M Hospital, Apex Healthcare unit of the department for free diagnostic and investigative services besides at zonal level too should be accomodated with free investigative and diagnostic services. CMO and Incharge Medical Officer were directed to maintain proper referral registers along with moments of ambulatory services, being utilized for such emergencies or otherwise.
As a gesture of administrative legacy inheritance, Dr Jahangir Bakhshi distributed clothing items among the inmates who thanked DHSK for having bestowed upon them the blessings of assuring removal of social stigma attached to their life, a human legacy that otherwise hammers at times within their conscience.
