DC Srinagar reviews implementation and progress of Financial Inclusion schemes Emphasizes importance of Social Security schemes in providing financial support to citizens

SRINAGAR, JULY 30: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo today chaired a comprehensive review meeting here at Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex to assess the implementation status and progress of various financial inclusion and social security schemes being executed through banks and financial institutions in the district.
At the outset, DC reviewed the progress under various Financial Inclusion schemes including distribution of RuPay Debit Cards under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY).
On the occasion, DC stressed dedicated efforts by all line departments and Banks operating in Srinagar district to bring more and more people in the fold of Financial Inclusion schemes so that the benefit is extended to all the eligible beneficiaries for financial inclusion in the district.
He stressed on intensifying awareness regarding the scheme to widen the ambit of coverage. He emphasized the importance of these schemes in providing financial support to citizens, especially those from marginalized sections, by offering life and accidental insurance coverage.
DC emphasized that financial institutions must instill confidence in the public regarding Financial Inclusion schemes and ensure all beneficiaries envisaged as laid in guidelines are registered at the earliest.
Besides, Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar and General Manager DIC, Hamida Akhtar, the meeting was attended by Superintending Engineer R&B, Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Sanitation Officer (SMC), LDM(Banks), Assistant Labour Commissioner, Officers from ICDS, FCS&CA, NRLM and other concerned.
