BSF ready to prevent cross-border infiltration: IG Anand

JAMMU, Nov : The Border Security Force (BSF) is fully equipped to ensure zero cross-border infiltration of terrorists in the Jammu region, including during winters, said Inspector General of the BSF, Jammu Frontier, Shashank Anand, at a press conference here on Saturday.
“The BSF is fully equipped for the winter months with the latest tools, including equipment that can see through foggy conditions, to ensure that no infiltration takes place from across the border,” Anand said.
He emphasised that the BSF remains alert 24/7, 365 days a year, regardless of weather conditions such as rain, fog, cold, or heat. “In this sensitive border region of Jammu, our personnel are trained not to leave their posts,” he added.
Anand also paid tribute to the force’s martyrs. “Two of our brave soldiers laid down their lives during Operation Sindoor in May, fighting the enemy, while another soldier drowned in Pragwal in September while manning a forward post, despite being a good swimmer. Their sacrifice shows that our soldiers consider the country supreme.”
The IG highlighted that the BSF has restored and strengthened flood-damaged infrastructure within a month. He assured the public that the force is working tirelessly to achieve the “zero infiltration” target along J&K borders.
“If I talk about Jammu and Kashmir, multiple agencies work together — the BSF, Army, Intelligence Bureau, Special Bureau, National Investigation Agency, and other sister agencies. Through them, we continuously receive actionable intelligence,” he said, adding that the BSF is ready for any challenge.
Addressing the narco-terror nexus, Anand said the government is implementing a 360-degree approach to ensure strict action against all accused. “We are tackling the challenge of drones, increasing our capabilities, and aim to be even more successful in the coming year,” he said.
He added that drone and anti-drone innovations are continuously researched and developed in collaboration with industry partners. “We have technology that can detect activities around the border even in foggy conditions. We are ready to face any challenge,” Anand said.
The BSF has also established two drone forensic laboratories — the Central Drone Forensic Laboratory in Delhi and another in Amritsar — to analyze recovered drones and provide actionable intelligence to investigating agencies.
Additionally, the force has set up the School of Drone Warfare in Gwalior and signed MoUs with IIT-Delhi, IIT-Chennai, and KF Hussain RJIT Engineering Institute to train students and BSF personnel for emerging aerial security challenges.
Present at the press conference were BSF Deputy Inspector Generals Vikram Kunwar and Kulwant Rai Sharma.
