Chief Secretary administers ‘Unity Pledge’ to officers on eve of National Unity Day

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 31: On the eve of the 12th National Unity Day, Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, today administered the ‘Unity Pledge’ to officers and officials of the Civil Secretariat here.
The ceremony, aimed at reaffirming the spirit of national integration and collective responsibility. The same was also attended virtually by employees stationed at the Jammu Secretariat through video conferencing.
During the solemn ceremony, the civil servants pledged to dedicate themselves to preserving the unity, integrity, and security of the nation, and to spread this message among fellow citizens.
They also resolved to contribute actively towards ensuring internal security and strengthening the spirit of national unity in their respective spheres of work.
Pertinently, National Unity Day is observed every year to commemorate the immense contribution of India’s first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, in the unification of the nation.
The day celebrates Patel’s monumental efforts in integrating more than 560 princely states into the Indian Union after independence, thereby laying the foundation of a united and strong India.
This year’s observance also marks the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose vision, leadership, and steadfast commitment continue to inspire the nation to uphold peace, integrity, and unity.
