Six to get Kargil Gaurav Award 2022

Pune, Sep 15 Physiotherapist Dr Ali Irani, Educationist and Social Crusader Pt Shankarprasad Agnihotri, Architect Imran Sheikh and Wg Cdr (Retd) Ashok Kumar Saraf are among the six eminent people whose names have been announced for the Kargil Gaurav National Award 2022 for their outstanding contribution to various fields.
Moreover, 100 local people will also be felicitated for providing support to the Indian Army during Kargil War. The award presentation and felicitation will take place on September 19.
This was announced in a statement issued by Dr Shailesh Pagariya of Sarhad Pune and Mohammad Ali, President, AKTTA, Syed Mehraj ud Din Shah, District Kargil Olympic Association, Ladakh and Vaibhav Wagh of Sarhad here on Thursday. Among the other awardees are Media Expert Shobha Kapoor and Sculptor Tsering Gurmet. Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council CEC Feroz Ahmed Khan and Advisor to Governor (Ladakh) Umang Narula will present the award to the recipients. The award consists of a memento and a citation. The award is instituted by NGO Sarhad.
One hundred people from the region, including police personnel, jawans, helpers and others, who helped the Indian Army during the Kargil War and still provide support to Indian Army officers and soldiers will also be felicitated with an appreciation certificate and the EkIndia, the world’s first commitment ring, said the statement.
The ring is infused with the glorious soils collected from various parts of India. It has ‘Bharat’ embossed in rich gold to re-instill the confidence to preserve India’s ancient identity as ‘Sone ki Chidiya’. It is made of pure silver symbolising the purity of the vision and is adorned with a real diamond that says: ‘You are the Diamond’.
Giving a brief introduction of the Kargil Gaurav National Award 2022 recipients, release said Pt Agnihotri has made impactful contributions to various fields including Education, Agriculture, Literature, Culture and Spirituality. He has been influenced by life and thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi and Acharya Vinoba Bhave.
Imran Shaikh is an accomplished architect working at the PanIndia Level in cities such Srinagar, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai and Kolkata for over two decades. He works on committees of many schools and social organisations under the aegis of Human Embrace foundation. He is laying strong foundations for the country with his design concepts, architectural skills and creative vision.
Dr Ali Irani is a renowned physiotherapist with an illustrious career of around three decades. His has been giving healing touch by reducing chances of injury and raising the chances of recovery of his countless patients, including several famous athletes, sports persons and Bollywood celebrities. His proficiency in sports and orthopaedic physiotherapy has stamped his authority at the national and international levels.
Tsering Gurmet is a talented and promising sculptor, photographer and calligraphy artist. His creations Fertility-Stone Structure, Friendship Tree and Bust of HE the 19th Kushok Bakula have won the hearts of the people. He has dedicated his life to put life and meaning into lifeless things. His keen interest in promoting Ladakhi Culture and supporting the youth of Ladakh through art is remarkable,statement added.
Wing Commander (retd) Ashok Kumar Saraf served the Indian Air Force for 23 years. Post-retirement, he has been actively involved in community service, particularly in the health sector. He has been instrumental in improving health care outcomes and quality of life for thousands of people.His adept, accomplished and steadfast career in engineering and the faithful practice of philanthropy is very inspiring.
Shobha Kapoor has a vast experience of over 15 years in policy planning, advocacy, creative services and media. She has undertaken various media and advocacy campaigns as a result of her expertise in managing teams, media and brand strategies. In this process, she has developed a deep understanding of issues faced by children and parents in vulnerable regions such as Kashmir, Meghalaya, Dharavi (Mumbai), Bihar and other places. She is driving the change in the educational paradigm and putting children at the center of development.
Sarhad has been actively working in the border areas of the country for the last several decades, including Punjab, Assam, Manipur and Ladakh. Post-Kargil war, Sarhad has been taking care of the educational and other needs of the children from the region without any government support, said press statement.
