Bandipora, Jan 03 : Bandipora-Gurez road was on Tuesday opened for one-way vehicular movement after remaining closed for 5 days due to snowfall.
An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS), the road had got blocked due to several minor avalanches after heavy snowfall in the area.
He said after hectic efforts by the Border Roads Organisation the road was cleared and thrown open for one-way traffic today.
He said only those vehicles with anti-skid chains are allowed to ply on the road.
Meanwhile, commanding officer BRO Col Abhishek said they are making efforts to keep the road open for traffic to connect Gurez with the rest of the world even though weather conditions are extremely harsh.
He said despite risk men are clearing snow to open the road for vehicular movement for an extended period of time in the winter and for that BRO is very keen on making it possible.
