
Srinagar, Mar 4 : Amid forecast for โpartly to generally cloudyโ weather in next 24 hours, the minimum temperature recorded a fall in Kashmir Valley and increase in Jammu on Saturday, officials said.
A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of 6.4ยฐC against 6.6ยฐC on the previous night and it was above normal by 4.2ยฐC for the summer capital.
Qazigund, he said, recorded a low of 4.2ยฐC against 5.6ยฐC on the previous night and it was 3.3ยฐC above normal for the gateway town of Kashmir.
Pahalgam, he said, recorded a low of 1.2ยฐC against 1.7ยฐC on the previous night and it was 3.5ยฐC above normal for the famous tourist resort in south Kashmirโs Anantnag district.
Kokernag recorded a low of 4.7ยฐC against 4.8ยฐC on the previous night and it was 3.8ยฐC above normal for the place, the officials said.
Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 1.0ยฐC against minus 0.6ยฐC on the previous night and it was 4.2ยฐC above normal for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmirโs Baramulla district, he said.
In Kupwara town, he said, the mercury settled at 4.2ยฐC, the same as on the previous night and it was 3.2ยฐC above normal for the north Kashmir area.
Jammu recorded a low of 13.2ยฐC against 12.7ยฐC on the previous night. It was 0.9ยฐC above normal for J&Kโs winter capital, he said.
Banihal, he said, recorded a low of 6.4ยฐC (above normal by 0.9ยฐC), Batote 9.2ยฐC (above normal by 3.4ยฐC), Katra 13.6ยฐC (3.1ยฐC above normal) and Bhadarwah 7.0ยฐC (4.9ยฐC above normal).
Ladakhโs Leh and Kargil recorded a low of minus 2.8ยฐC and minus 4.6ยฐC respectively, the official added.
Regarding weather, he said it is likely to be โpartly to generally cloudyโ during next 24 hours with appreciable rise expected in day temperature. Clear weather is expected from March 5-12, the officials added. (GNS)
