Night Temp Drops Below Normal In Kashmir, Rises At Most Places In Jammu

 

Srinagar, June 2 : Amid forecast for decrease in rainfall activity, night temperature fell below normal in Kashmir Valley and recorded a rise in Jammu division except the winter capital of J&K on Thursday.

A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of 11.6ยฐC against 13.8ยฐC on the previous night, he said. The temperature, he said, was below normal by 0.9ยฐC during this time of the year for the summer capital.

Qazigund recorded a low of 10.0ยฐC absent 11.0ยฐC on the previous night. The temperature was 1.1ยฐC below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.

Pahalgam, which had 6.8mm of rainfall in 24 hours till 0830 hours today, recorded a minimum of 6.3ยฐC against 6.6ยฐC on the previous night. The temperature was 0.3ยฐC below normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir during this time of the season, he said.

Kokernag recorded a low of 10.1ยฐC against 9.9ยฐC on the previous night. It was 1.0ยฐC below normal during this time of the season for the place in south Kashmir, the official said.

Gulmarg received 2.8 mm of rainfall during the time and recorded a low of 3.0ยฐC against 4.0ยฐC on the previous night, the official said. While 7.6ยฐC is normal for the world famous skiing resort during this time of the season, the official said that the temperature was 4.6ยฐC below normal for the place in north Kashmirโ€™s Baramulla district.

Kupwara town in north Kashmir recorded a low of 9.6ยฐC against 12.5ยฐC on the previous night. The temperature was 1.4ยฐC below normal for the district, the official told Global News Service.

Jammu recorded a low of 27.7ยฐC against 28.5ยฐC on the previous night, the official said. The temperature was 2.0ยฐC above normal for J&Kโ€™s winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 15.4ยฐC, Batote recorded a low of 15.1ยฐC while Bhadarwah had a minimum of 12.8ยฐC, the official said. The MeT department also forecast decrease in rainfall activity in the J&K for the next 24 hours. (GNS)
