Srinagar: In the last four years, the education system in the Kashmir Valley has been on a remarkable journey, free from the miseries of communalism, strikes and work theft. A ray of hope has emerged in every sector of Jammu and Kashmir after a long gap. For years, the people of Kashmir had been facing constant disruptions in the form of strikes, riots, stone-pelting and protests, which resulted in the closure of schools, universities, colleges and other educational institutions. The consequences of which were serious for the young generation who were victims of this uncertain situation. The education of students was severely affected as they struggled to access quality education opportunities. But in the last four years, a significant change took place and the dark clouds of uncertainty began to lift, allowing the rays of education to shine. One of the most significant changes was the reduction, if not the elimination, of strikes and other conditions that disrupted daily life in the Valley. This new system has provided the much needed platform for revitalizing the education system.Teachers, professors, lecturers and non-teaching staff were unable to perform their duties even with monthly salaries of lakhs of rupees and were confined to their homes due to constant riots, but now once again they have found purpose in their profession. Their commitment to nurturing young minds and imparting knowledge has enriched the educational landscape. Their dedication, combined with students’ eagerness to learn, fuels a transformative educational experience.
The government has played a key role in improving the education system. Initiatives to rebuild and modernize schools and universities have been at the forefront of this revival. Much-needed resource and infrastructure improvements have revitalized long-neglected institutions. Classrooms that were once empty due to unrest are now vibrant centers of learning. Moreover, an inclusive approach to education has been adopted.Apart from academic institutions, various extra-curricular activities, including sports, are regularly included in the curriculum. Sports not only provide a good education but also help the youth to develop their energy and skills in productive ways. The students of Kashmir valley enthusiastically started availing these opportunities and showcased their true talent on various platforms. They excelled in both academics and sports, bringing fame to the region.
This revival is a testament to the indomitable spirit of the youth who braved the odds to shine at the national and international level. The transformation of the education system in the Kashmir Valley is a testament which can happen when stability and peace are prioritized. The newly founded peace has provided an opportunity to the people of the valley to rebuild their lives. Youth have an important role in maintaining this peace and tranquility for which they should come forward and fulfill their responsibility.
