Night Temp Rises But Stays Below Normal In J&K

Srinagar, June 26 (GNS): While weatherman has forecast dry weather till ending June, night temperature recorded rise at most places but continued to hover below normal in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.

A meteorological department official here told GNS that mainly dry weather was expected over the plains of Jammu and Kashmir in the next 24 hours.

โ€œOverall, there’s no forecast of any major rainfall activity till ending June,โ€ he said.
Meanwhile, he said, Srinagar recorded a low of 16.7ยฐC against 14.3ยฐC on the previous night. The temperature, he said, was 0.6ยฐC below normal during this time of the year for the summer capital.

Gulmarg recorded a low of 10.8ยฐC against 8.5ยฐC on the previous night, the official said. While 11.4ยฐC is normal for the world famous skiing resort during this time of the season, the official said that the temperature was 0.6ยฐC below normal for the famous place in north Kashmirโ€™s Baramulla district.

Kupwara town had a low of 14.6ยฐC against 12.6ยฐC on the previous night. The temperature was 0.8ยฐC below normal for the district, the official said.

Qazigund recorded a low of 14.0ยฐC against 10.8ยฐC on the previous night. The temperature was 1.7ยฐC โ€˜belowโ€™ normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.

In Pahalgam, the mercury settled at 10.2ยฐC against 8.8ยฐC on the previous night. The temperature was 0.5ยฐC below normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir during this time of the season, he said.

Kokernag recorded a low of 15.0ยฐC against 11.1ยฐC on the previous night. It was 0.3ยฐC โ€˜belowโ€™ normal for the place in south Kashmir during this time of the season, the official said.

Jammu recorded a low of 26.3ยฐC against 24.6ยฐC on the previous night, the official said.

The temperature was 0.1ยฐC โ€˜belowโ€™ normal for J&Kโ€™s winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 16.6ยฐC, Batote 18.2ยฐC, Katra 24.4ยฐC while Bhadarwah had a minimum of 15.4ยฐC, the official said. (GNS)
