Efforts being made to resume Amarnath Yatra: LG Sinha

Visits Nunwan base camp to meet pilgrims

Pahalgam: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on Sunday said that efforts are being to resume the Amarnaath Yatra which was suspended on Friday after a cloudburst hit lower Amarnath cave, killing at least 16 people and injuring more than 40 people.

LG Sinha while talking to reporters after visiting Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam said that efforts are being made to resume the Yatra as the restoration work on route was going on.

“Pilgrims should come, we will provide them with all necessary facilities. The security personnel and administration have carried out an efficient rescue operation,” he added.

He also said that they are making good arrangements for them and he personally met the yatris.

“I have got positive feedback from them. We are making best possible arrangements for them,” he said.

The Amarnath yatra was temporarily suspended on Friday after cloudburst hit lower Amarnath cave shrine, killing at least 16 people and injuring more than 40. (KNS)
