Commissioner Secretary H&UDD Kicks Off Mega Plantation Drive around Municipal Landfill Site Achan as part of Swachhata Pakhwada Campaign*

About 2000 trees to be planted across the site

Srinagar,August 10th : Commissioner Secretary to the Government, H&UDD, Ms. Mandeep Kaur IAS, along with the Commissioner SMC, Dr.Owais Ahmed IAS, today kicked off a large plantation drive in the buffer zone at the Municipal Landfill Site Achan as a key initiative under the ongoing Swachhata Pakhwada Campaign. This significant event marks a crucial step towards environmental sustainability in Srinagar. With the kick starting of this great initiative today, it is estimated to plant 2000 trees at the Achan landfill site.

The joint initiative led by Ms. Mandeep and Dr.Owais aims to enhance green cover, promote environmental conservation, and contribute to a cleaner and healthier ecosystem at the Achan Landfill Site. By initiating this mega plantation drive,Ms. Mandeep and Dr.Owais demonstrated a shared commitment in fostering a more sustainable and eco-friendly environment for the local and residents of Srinagar City.

The Swachhata Pakhwada Campaign underscores the importance of collective action towards promoting cleanliness, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. The plantation drive at buffer zone of the Achan Landfill Site symbolizes a proactive approach to address ecological concerns, creating a greener landscape and the foul smell will also be minimised.
