Will Revoke PSA If Elected to Power, Says Omar
Srinagar, Aug 30: National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah declared that if his party comes to power, it will repeal the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at a party event, Abdullah criticized the widespread misuse of the PSA and assured that the NC would halt arrests of youths as part of its policy reforms.
Abdullah also addressed the recent pre-poll alliance with the Congress for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, describing it as a challenging decision for the NC. He explained that the alliance involved sacrificing several seats where the NC believed it could have secured victories on its own.
Despite the difficulties, Abdullah emphasized that this collective struggle for the “restoration of rights” in Jammu and Kashmir was crucial and beneficial for the entire region.
