Tengpora Tragedy: Minors counseled with parents just days before disaster
In a startling revelation, Traffic Police Srinagar disclosed on Friday that the minors involved in tragic 10-car accident on the bypass had undergone counseling by SPP Traffic city Srinagar along with their fathers just a week prior to the incident.
Following an hour-long counseling session, they were released, raising serious questions about parental responsibility and the rising trend of minors being entrusted with powerful vehicles.
A police officer from the Traffic Police Srinagar stated the growing issue, stating, “Our society has become excessively materialistic. Parents are giving their minors expensive, powerful vehicles to elevate their social status. This practice, however, is leading to avoidable tragedies, as seen in this devastating accident.”
The incident, which caused widespread chaos and loss, has sparked debates about the accountability of parents who provide their underage children with vehicles. The officer highlighted that while counseling efforts were made, they appear insufficient without stricter enforcement of traffic laws and awareness campaigns to curb such practices.
