As part of the ongoing Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2024-25, the District Police Budgam organized a distribution event at District Police Lines, Budgam, aimed at promoting sports and supporting persons with disabilities. Under the supervision of Shri Nikhil Borkar (IPS), SSP Budgam, and in the presence of Shri Sumit Kumar (JKPS), Dy.SP DAR, and other senior officers, sports kits were distributed among cricket teams, while wheelchairs were provided to specially-abled individuals.
During the event, 13 comprehensive sports kitsโincluding kit bags, stumps, bails, leg guards, wicket-keeping gear, batting gloves, thigh guards, helmets, and leather ballsโwere distributed to various cricket teams from the district. Additionally, 31 wheelchairs were provided to specially-abled persons to support their mobility and independence.
Addressing the gathering, SSP Budgam emphasized the police forceโs commitment to community welfare, stating that such initiatives are designed to empower and support marginalized sections of society. He expressed hope that the assistance provided would enable specially-abled individuals to become more self-reliant and lead fulfilling lives.
Furthermore, SSP Budgam assured continuous support from the District Police in helping specially-abled individuals achieve their goals. He urged them to remain determined and not allow physical challenges to hinder their aspirations. He also advised police personnel to demonstrate empathy and kindness towards differently-abled individuals and extend a helping hand to integrate them into mainstream society.
Additionally, while addressing young cricketers, SSP Budgam encouraged them to contribute towards maintaining peace and harmony in the region and stay away from drugs. He reaffirmed that J&K Police remains committed to addressing the genuine concerns of the youth and will continue to support initiatives fostering sports and positive engagement.
