At a press conference on Saturday, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Mr. Ragav, hailed the efforts of the police, especially the Investigating Officers and other teams involved, for securing these convictions, which he said would serve as a deterrent to others engaged in criminal activities.
In the first case, an accused was convicted of rape and kidnapping, receiving a concurrent sentence of 14 years—7 years for each of the charges.
The court also delivered a notable sentence in a second case involving the rape and kidnapping of a minor girl. The accused was sentenced to a total of 27 years—20 years for rape and 7 years for kidnapping.

He stated, “These convictions are the result of sustained efforts by our police officers and teams, and they will send a strong message to criminals in the region,” Mr Ragav as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust said.
