Mission Statehood: Sunil Dimple Leads Strong Protest Rally, Demands Restoration of J&K State and Special Status

Jammu, April 6- -In a bold political move under the banner of Mission Statehood, President Sunil Dimple led a powerful protest rally in Jammu today, demanding the immediate restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and special constitutional status. Dimple directly appealed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging swift action for reinstating Article 370 and Article 35-A, which were abrogated in August 2019.
Addressing the gathering, Dimple announced plans to convene an all-party meeting in the coming days to chalk out a united strategy for the early restoration of J&K’s statehood and its special provisions under the Constitution. He emphasized the urgency of restoring political autonomy and ending what he called the “dual power centres” currently governing the region.
In a pointed political challenge, Dimple also appealed to National Conference leader and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to debate the issues in the Legislative Assembly on April 7. He questioned the delay in restoring the state’s democratic structure and special status, asking, “Why this delay in giving back Jammu and Kashmir its rightful status? Why these dual control mechanisms?”
The rally saw participation from various civil society groups, activists, and regional supporters, reflecting the growing sentiment for the return of full statehood and constitutional guarantees.
As political temperatures rise in the region, the coming weeks may see renewed efforts from multiple stakeholders pushing for a resolution to the long-pending demand of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
