JKCSF Applauds Cyber Police Kashmir for Busting Major Mule Account Syndicate; Calls for Broader Action Against Organized Crime

Srinagar, April 7 – 0- The Jammu & Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JKCSF), led by Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani, has extended high praise to the Cyber Police Kashmir Zone for their decisive action in dismantling a large-scale mule bank account syndicate, which had been facilitating cyber-enabled financial frauds across the region.
In a statement released today, Wani commended the Cyber Police team, headed by SSP Srinagar Imtiyaz Hussain Mir, for their thorough investigation and professional execution of the operation. The crackdown resulted in the unearthing of over 7,200 mule accounts created since January 2025 and the arrest of 21 individuals involved in the illegal activities.
“This is not just a crackdown on financial crime but a strong message to those exploiting vulnerable sections of our society,” said Wani. He highlighted the disturbing trend of economically disadvantaged individuals being lured into such criminal networks, which not only harms the victims but also erodes public trust in digital banking systems.
The JKCSF praised the swift and in-depth investigative work of the Cyber Police, stating that their efforts have protected thousands of citizens from potential financial exploitation.
Wani urged the general public, especially the youth, to remain vigilant and avoid sharing or renting out bank accounts or official documents for unauthorized or suspicious purposes. He also called for greater community-level awareness to prevent people from falling prey to such fraudulent schemes.
Reaffirming its commitment to public welfare, JKCSF expressed its full support to all agencies working in the interest of safeguarding citizens and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between civil society and law enforcement.
In addition to combating cyber fraud, the JKCSF has also urged the authorities to take strong and focused action against the drug mafia and those involved in food adulteration. Wani warned that these criminal networks pose a severe risk to public health and called for stringent measures to dismantle such operations and hold the perpetrators accountable.
“The safety and well-being of our people must remain the top priority,” Wani said, stressing the need for accountability and decisive governance at all levels.
