Three Key Bills Passed by J&K Assembly Receive LG’s Assent

Srinagar, April 7, : The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Monday was informed that three significant bills passed by the House have received formal assent from the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha.

Secretary of the Assembly, Manoj Kumar Pandit, made the announcement during the ongoing session, confirming that the Lieutenant Governor gave his approval to the bills on March 25, 2025.

Reading out the official communication, the Secretary said: “Three Bills, passed by the Legislative Assembly, have been assented to by the Lieutenant Governor on March 25.” The approved legislations include The Jammu and Kashmir Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025 (L.A. Bill No. 1 of 2025), The Jammu and Kashmir Appropriation Bill, 2025 (L.A. Bill No. 2 of 2025), and The Jammu and Kashmir Appropriation Bill, 2025 (L.A. Bill No. 3 of 2025).

The GST (Amendment) Bill aims to align the Union Territory’s tax regime with national-level changes to ensure smooth functioning of trade and compliance systems. The Appropriation Bills relate to the allocation and authorization of government spending for the financial year 2025–26, enabling the administration to meet planned expenditure across departments.

The assent of these bills marks a key legislative milestone for the Union Territory, facilitating both economic regulation and fiscal governance for the upcoming year.
